Wilkerson Wins In Second Crate Late Model Start

Wyatt Wilkerson Racing Pro Late Model

MONROE, La. — Troy Savanna Photo — Sweet Lake, Louisiana racer Wyatt Wilkerson, 14, won in dominating fashion in the 602 Crate Late Model division at The Rev last Saturday. It was only his second crate late model start. He finished second in his initial start a week prior to his win.

Wilkerson took the lead on lap four in last Saturday’s event with an inside move on Chase Delrio and drove away against some of the top racers from across the region to pick up the $2400 top prize. Veteran Sid Scarborough made his way to second and Delrio finished in third. After the race, the rising young talent was all smiles.

“My team gave me a really fast car tonight,” he said at the end of the night’s action. “I just wanted to get out front early and not make any mistakes. That was a lot of fun. I was hoping to get a win in the limited modified too, but they called the race after the big wreck. It would have been nice to win twice in the same night. We had a fast car for that race two. We ran second in the heat, and I had very high hopes. We’ve always been good here at The Rev, and I’m awful sorry to see the place shutting down. Thank you to all the fans who came out to watch us tonight, and to my team, all of my sponsors and supporters for everything they do for me.”

Corporate supporters for Wyatt and his team include Wilkerson Transportation, Action Auto Parts, Racing for Tanner, Cajun Pools and Spas, VFW and Cade Dillard Racing.
