WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Modified racer John Holleman will be chasing his first victory of 2022 on Saturday in the Kevin Powell Motorsports 100 at Bowman-Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
The five-time most popular BGS driver has not had the start to the season that he and his family-owned team would have wished for, but he has shown the speed and the tenacity to finish at the front of the field.
After a 12th place finish in the season-opening Hayes Jewelers 200 due to a broken front shock while running in the top five, he rebounded last weekend to finish sixth and fifth in the Twin 25-lap mains.
“We started 8th, and my spotter Dustin did a great job of getting me down to the bottom quickly.” the driver said of last week’s first race. “We were able to use a lapped car as a pick halfway through the race to pass for sixth and we finished there for the first race.”
Following the top 14 finishers getting inverted, Holleman started ninth with his No. 69 in the second race. “We raced very patiently and took what came available to us and made our way to a nice fifth place finish. I’m definitely disappointed in myself for the weak qualifying effort, but I’m extremely proud of myself and my team for persevering and making what seemed to be a rough start to the evening turn out really advantageous for us as we brought home second place overall points for the evening. That boosted us from twelfth to sixth in the standings, so we’re heading in the right direction for that championship run. We’re excited about Saturday’s 100-lap feature and a chance to get our team and our sponsors back to victory lane.”
John’s marketing partners include Black Sand Company, A Lawn Crue, Thunder Road Grill, L&R Transmissions and Midway Mobile Services.
