WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – John Holleman once again overcame adversity to score a fifth place finish in the second of the two Twin 25-lap races at Bowman-Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina Saturday. He finished seventh in the first race. This, after having to switch cars just before qualifying due to a dropped valve in his main No. 69 modified.

“We finally got the parts we needed to put our primary car back together,” Holleman said. “We felt confident in running that car again after running the backup car for the past several weeks. Then, in the last practice, ten minutes before qualifying, we realized the motor had dropped a valve. So, we had to qualify the backup car with no practice. The car was dragging the track really bad in qualifying and come to find out we had no right front spring because the spring bucket snapped off.”

The determined driver still qualified tenth for race one. He worked his way up to a seventh-place finish. Then, in race two, he started from tenth once again. Staying out of trouble and making a few well-earned passes, Holleman brought the car home in fifth place and once again closed in on the championship standings lead, narrowing the gap to 34 points.

“It seems like this whole first half of the season has been all about overcoming adversity,” noted the driver. “And we’ve responded and punched back even harder each time. Tonight’s schedule is twin 50-lap races for us. if you have a good car, you realistically have a chance to win two races and put yourself in a position to really make some gains on the championship battle. Our whole team is excited to get to the track and chase our first two wins of the 2022 season.”
