BLOWN TIRE COSTS FINN ROBINSON AT ALDERSHOT REBELS WORLD MASTERS EVENT

HAMPSHIRE SOUTH EAST – A blown tire in the feature combined with an already ill-handling car cost Finn Robinson an opportunity to grab a top five finish in Rebels Series competition at Aldershot Raceway. Robinson, one of the UK’s up and coming oval track racers, ended up 13th following the crash caused by the blown right rear tire he suffered after running over a piece of debris from the previous race. He had one more main event scheduled but the damage to his sharp-looking racer was too severe to continue so the team loaded up the car and watched the final race.

The team was upbeat going into the feature, after realizing in practice and heat race competition that the motor issues they have had since the start of the season seemed to have subsided. The personable young racer ran strong in heat one before contact from another car forced him into a car to his outside and relegated him to a tenth-place finish and causing some damage to his racer. Heat two was a bit less eventful, as Finn worked his way through the field to finish sixth running with the lead pack.

In the 15-lap feature (main event), Robinson started in seventh and was battling in a tight pack of cars until running over the debris, which caused the flat tire that ultimately ended his day.

“It was a bittersweet day for us overall as a team,” said Robinson. “We were happy that we fixed our engine issues that have plagued us this year but fighting a loose car all day was tough. It was an unfortunate ending to the world masters with the debris that was left on the track.”

Finn’s next race is May 1 at Skegness Raceway, again running with the Rebels Racing Series for the first of four European qualifying races.
